First IB World School Offering PYP, MYP & DP in Okinawa

In December 2020, Okinawa International School has officially become an accredited school for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Together with the Primary Years Programme(PYP 2011) and the Middle Years Programme(MYP 2016), Okinawa International School is now an integrated school that follows the International Baccalaureate curriculum from early childhood to high school education.

In Japan, there are 85 schools (as of December 6, 2020) that are accredited by the International Baccalaureate,  and OIS becomes the first school in Okinawa and only the 11th IB school in Japan to offer the complete IB programs (PYP-MYP-DP) from kindergarten all the way to high school.

Okinawa, a geopolitically, historically, and culturally unique region, surrounded by the sea, is facing the global environmental problem of global warming. In the future, OIS will collaborate with schools and educational institutions all around the world that offer the same IB curriculum and inquiry-based education despite national, racial, religious, and political boundaries. Our goal is to become an international school that fosters global elites while and exploring and contributing to peace and environmental issues in Asia.
